32’ Bavarian yacht ‘Emys 2’ with 3 persons on board had snagged it’s rudder and prop on a pot line 4 miles SSE of Freshwater Bay and despite efforts to cut free, were unable to.

Persons reported on Brook ledge at extreme low tide, with the tide on the flood, arrived on scene at 1657 and asked to stand off by the Coastguard mobile unit on scene, persons made way back to the beach. Released at 17:18.

Crew paged by HMCG at 1657.

Both boats launched to assist in search for a missing person in conjunction with Coastguard Search and Rescue teams, Police and Police helicopter.
Searched area from Freshwater Bay to Alum Bay then back to Brook, with the light failing and sea conditions worsening we were stood down at 1918.

The crew were alerted via pager at 13:08 and the D Class lifeboat launched at 13:45. They were tasked to proceed to a position between Freshwater Bay and Compton Bay, where a paraglider was stuck at the bottom of the cliff. There was a large swell and this prevented the lifeboat from getting in to rescue the caualty. They stood off whist the Coatgaurd Cliff team rescued him.

The crew were alerted via pager at 11:09 and the D Class lifeboat launched at 11:31.

They were tasked to proceed to a position 2 miles South of Tennyson's Monument to assist a vessel with electrical problems.

On arrival at 11:49, it was not possible to restart the engine. The vessel was taken under tow by the Spirit of the Wight .

14:05, arrived Yarmouth. 

Lifeboat refuled and returned to Freshwater Bay
